Shearit Y'israel Qahal L'Yahushua
May Yahuwah bless and keep you. May Yahuwah lift up His Face and be gracious to you. May Yahuwah lift up His Face and grant you His Peace. And name His name upon your children, and He Himself will bless them.

Why Nazarene instead of Messianic?

Why do we call ourselves Nazarene Jewish instead of Messianic Jewish?

First, we are NOT aligned with so-called “Nazarene Israelite or Nazarene Yisraelite” fringe groups, nor do we believe in or follow their teachings or beliefs.

The term Nazarene as used by Shearit Yisrael Nazarene Congregation only denotes that we are followers of Yeshua HaMoshiach, the Nazarene.

Shearit Yisrael Nazarene Congregation and our leadership strives to be as Scripturally correct as possible, and Yeshua HaMoshiach was from Nazareth, and was called a Nazarene.

Matt. 2:23 “and came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth – thus to fill what was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”

John 19:19 “And Pilate wrote a title too, and put it on the stake, and it was written: YESHUA OF NAZARETH, THE SOVEREIGN OF THE YEHUDIM”

Also, those who followed Yeshua, including Sha'ul, were called Nazarene Jewish.

Acts 24:5 “For having found this man a plague, who stirs up dissension among all the Yehudim throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes,”

Shearit Yisrael Nazarene Congregation and it's leadership desire to keep Scriptural practices, not rabbinical practices, and desire to follow the Nazarene called Yahushuah HaMoshiach. To this end, we diligently study Scripture, from Bereshit (Genesis) to Revelation, to discover the way Elohim desires us to follow Him. Where tradition enhances our understanding of His Torah, we will follow. But where tradition deviates or changes His instructions, we will not follow. We desire to follow Elohim's traditions, not the traditions of man.

If you have any questions on why we use the term Nazarene Y'israelite, please feel free to contact us at: roehbilly@yahoo.com  or call 210-854-5581.
